Canada Post strike: Adjust your method of payment for common charges

Since the start of the indefinite strike at Canada Post, mail delivery has been disrupted across the country. In light of this, we would like to remind all co-owners of the importance of planning ahead for the payment of their common expenses, especially if you still send cheques by mail.

It is important to remember that condo fees are the main—if not the only—source of income for the condominium syndicate. They ensure the proper functioning of your building: maintenance, repairs, insurance, service contracts, etc. Any delay in payment can compromise this management and result in additional costs.

WHAT IF YOU STILL PAY BY CHEQUE?

If you usually send your cheque by mail, we strongly recommend that you choose another payment method during the strike or opt for a private courier service or hand delivery, if available.

But the best solution is to switch to an electronic payment method. It’s more reliable, faster, and often free of charge.

YOUR SECURE AND SIMPLE PAYMENT OPTIONS

By logging into the UpperBee portal, you can access “Pay with UpperBee Pay.” There you will find several payment options, your balance, and your account statement, which you can download.

1.Pre-Authorized Payment (PAP)

  • No fees.
  • Automated: you’ll never forget a payment again.
  • Activate this payment method directly through the UpperBee portal or request the form by email at [email protected].

2. Bank transfer via your banking app

  • No fees.
  • Make a supplier payment through your banking app.
  • Your customer number is indicated on your account statement, which is also accessible via your UpperBee portal.

3. Credit card payment

  • Transaction fees apply and are payable by the co-owner.
  • Payment method accessible via the home page of your UpperBee portal.
  • To be used as a last resort due to fees.

Why it’s important

Any late payment may:

  • Generate interest or penalties on your account.
  • Create management difficulties for your syndicate.
  • Require additional administrative follow-up.

Anticipating your payments in this strike context contributes to the financial stability of your condominium… and avoids a lot of hassle.
