GoConsigne : A simple and effective initiative to collect returnable containers … Directly from condominiums

Since June is Environment Month, it’s the perfect opportunity to introduce you to or reintroduce you to a concrete green initiative that has already been adopted in some buildings: GoConsigne.

WHAT IS GOCONSIGNE?

GoConsigne is a Quebec-based company that offers a turnkey service for collecting returnable containers, directly from homes or residential buildings.

The goal: to facilitate sorting, simplify collection, and offer a practical and eco-friendly alternative to trips to the return counters.

But that’s not all: the funds collected can be donated to the syndicate or to a partner organization, such as the Fondation Autiste et Majeur, for an additional social impact.

GOCONSIGNE IN ACTION AT SOLUTIONCONDO

In some buildings managed by SolutionCondo, the initiative has been successfully implemented. Thanks to the involvement of residents, the system is in place to manage consignment bags, store them temporarily, and schedule collection with the GoConsigne team.

This is a great example of how citizen involvement, even on a small scale, can have a real impact on the environment… and on community life.

HOW DOES IT WORK IN PRACTICE?

Interested buildings register with GoConsigne.
Bags are provided to collect returnable containers.
When a certain volume is reached, a collection is scheduled by one of the residents or a designated representative.
The containers are then sorted and the funds returned according to the chosen option (to the syndicate or to a social cause).

Good to know: there is a cost for the deposit bins. However, the collection service is free of charge.
